About this
painting
I owe this one to my sister-in-law!
While putting along on a beautiful hiking trail we decided
to take our shoes off and wade around in a small creek. My sister-in-law waded over to a little
sandy corner under an alder tree where we stood in awe at the little tiny
nest. I had never seen one before
and would have missed it if she hadn’t discovered it herself.
The average size of a rufous hummingbird nest is about 2
inches in diameter. They are
loosely woven from plant fibers and spiderwebs so they can stretch with
the babies as they grow.
